Whats On
President, Jo Hancock, welcomed the members present to the June meeting. There will be an outing to Blenheim Palace on 7th August and a meeting on programme planning at Devizes on October 1st, both organised by the County Federation.
An invitation has been received from Boxlea W.I. to hear a talk on “Stem Cell” research by Professor Welham on October 5th.
The Institute has been asked to appoint a representative to serve on the Executive Committee of the Village Hall. Alison Flint is willing to continue unless any other member would like the opportunity.
Margaret Beswick reported on the Best Kept Village competition, the results of which will be announced on 1st August. The Parish Council is pleased with the cooperation of the village and hopes to enter again next year.
The W.I Garden Party is on July 19th (3pm for 3.15pm) and as it will celebrate 85 years of Biddestone & Hartham W.I., ‘best dresses’ are to be worn and there will be a competition for the best hat. There will also be a photo competition for “Entrances and Exits”, the theme chosen for the 2008 Wiltshire Federation calendar.
Mr. Billy Andrews then gave a talk and demonstration of Tai Chi. He explained the history and origins of it and afterwards gave a demonstration.
